The British Shorthair is the pedigreed version of the traditional British domestic cat, with a distinctively chunky body, dense coat and broad face.
Life span: 14–20 years
Weight: Unusually among domestic cats they are a noticeably sexually dimorphic breed, with males averaging (4.1–7.7 kg) and females (3.2–5.4 kg)

Health Concerns: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a form of heart disease. Hemophilia B, a bleeding disorder, for which there has been a DNA test established to help breeders identify carriers and affected cats.
