Tips for Feeding Rottweilers

Rotties are best known for being loyal and protective, and despite their intimidating appearance, they’re actually docile and super lovable. If you’re fortunate enough to have one as part of your family, you’re no doubt looking for ways to keep them happy and healthy. A good place to start? Their diet.

As with many breeds, a well-balanced, nutritional diet is key to their wellbeing. Rottweilers need a lot of protein to ensure they remain in tip-top shape. It’s said that adult dog food should contain between 20% to 24% protein while puppies should be served between 24% and 28%. Since they’re still developing, it’s normal that they would require more meat.

Puppies can also consume a lot more fat because they burn a lot more energy. Adult Rotties, however, are prone to obesity so it’s important to monitor their diet and exercise them regularly. In general, dog food should never contain sugar, artificial colouring, or chemical preservatives. Check the label on your chosen product range to ensure this is the case.
