PREPARING YOUR DOG FOR SPRING

As spring approaches, it’s essential to prepare your dog for the change in season. Start by scheduling a vet visit to ensure your pet is in good health, checking for any allergies or conditions that might be triggered by springtime allergens like pollen. Grooming is also crucial; a thorough brushing helps remove the winter coat and reduces shedding. Consider a bath with a gentle, dog-specific shampoo to clean away any dirt or debris that has built up during the winter months.

Next, check your dog’s flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. Spring is when these pests become more active, so it’s vital to stay ahead of potential infestations. Make sure your dog’s vaccinations are up to date as well.

As the weather warms up, gradually increase your dog’s exercise to help them adjust. Longer walks or more playtime in the yard can help them burn off excess energy. Keep an eye out for any signs of fatigue as they get back into their routine.

Lastly, inspect your yard for any hazards like toxic plants, sharp objects, or holes that could pose risks to your dog. By taking these steps, you’ll ensure your dog is ready to enjoy a healthy and active spring season.
