Dog Breeds and their Nutritional Needs

Pet owners often associate health problems in dogs with their specific breed. Bulldogs, for example, are notorious for overheating, Labradors are known to easily gain weight, German Shepards are more susceptible to hip dysplasia, and the list goes on. While each breed has its ‘quirks’, it’s not to say that it’s always the cause of a dog’s health problems.

The same goes for what you’re feeding your pet. Often, breed-specific diets can help in certain areas, but might not always serve the unique needs of your doggo. So, it’s important to treat them according to their health issues and not necessarily their breed.

It’s about understanding the nutritional requirements of your pet and their activity levels. Once you’ve determined this, you’ll need to assess the quality of your dog food to ensure it includes the right nutrients to keep them healthy or better their ailments.

The amount of food they eat will be determined by their age and size, but high-quality dog food should include everything you need for a healthy pet. Of course, if your dog is experiencing health issues that you need help addressing, turn to your vet for expert advice.
